Photography tips for jewelry pieces?

Hello! I would like to take pictures of jewelry I make and post them on my website. I took pictures before using a macro function and have experimented with light - both natural and flash. The problem is that the slightest scratch on the silver or specifications dust is magnified 100x and a minor imperfection is better than the piece as a whole. What simple techniques can be used with a digital camera for a flattering picture of my work? Thank you very much for your help. You will need lots and lots and lots of light. Put on sunglasses as bright enough to see everthing then down a step. Well, not really, but better results are obtained when light from the subject from all sides.
