If memory cards supposed to come with digital cameras?

I just bought a digital camera used for my grandmother ... I naturally assumes that all cameras come with a memory card because mine (I have a gun) After talking to my mom says the new brand camera not come with a ... So I guess I'm trying to figure out if they cheated or if it is common for digital cameras do not come with a memory card. Thanks!

Depends on what you buy ... I bought a Canon camera and came with 32 mb memory card ... basically what allows you to take six pictures in the best configuration (the high resolution). You'll have to buy your own card of 1 GB or higher. In the U.S., which are relatively cheap, I bought a 2 GB card for $ 12. So do not think they were cheated ... the larger memory card is extra.
