Asus Eee PC questions

I'll buy this little thing tomorrow. Basically I need to write and maybe up digital photos Firstly, I can " xp install something other than an external CD drive? Like other PC? Secondly, if I stay with Linux, which is compatible with Word or WordPerfect? Thirdly, with Linux, "I can connect my digital camera to her, and I will read as a removable drive? Thanks for the help

I'm not super familiar with the Eee PC, but I have some experience with Linux (although I do not know which version / Linux version of the Eee PC is running ...). But I'll give you the best I can. What do you mean by "install XP and external hard drive? As the import XP from your laptop or desktop of age, which is just how remember? Or install XP on the external drive and boot from external drive? As far as I know, if you mean the first option, I'm doubting it's okay easily (although I have heard of some programs that might be able to do ... I do not know their names or cost.). If you mean the second option, I'd say that's possible. When the Eee PC's BIOS is booting, you have to press a button and go to boot menu. Then (if connected and supported the Eee PC), choose the external drive and boot into XP. As for how to get XP on the drive, I'm not sure. I think I could boot from the installation CD XP (with the Eee PC) and install XP on the external drive, but I've never tried. As far as I know (using Ubuntu), Linux supports OpenOffice.org, which is the equivalent free Microsoft Office. (OpenOffice does a very good job, but I prefer Microsoft Office only a little more, but only because I know him well, and do not feel like taking the time to find out where buttons / options in OpenOffice). * I *, but I'm not sure if you use WINE with Linux, you can run Microsoft Word. (WINE is basically Windows emulator for Linux). I would say that there is a good chance that you recognize your camera as a removable drive, but if you're lucky (and people Linux distributions do have enough time and energy to do so), could automatically download a driver for the camera, so it is recognized as a camera, not just a removable drive. As I said before, I'm not sure which version of Linux the Eee PC is running, or the degree of similarity is to Ubuntu.
