Best scientific use of a digital camera gone bad?

My Sony W80 7.2 megapixel camera got wet and has gone bad. What's the best scientific use I can put it to?
What components can I extract and make some small lab experiment.. say the lens etc..
Inputs from techies would be greatly appreciated. Am ready to donate as well.

I suggest you try to nurse it back to health. Put it in a very warm dry place for a while and see if you can get the mositure out of it. If needed you may have to carefully open it up and try to clean the boards and other mechanizms.

If you can't fix it, realistically it is useless other than as an educational tool see how cameras are put together. (i.e. try to learn something as you rip it to peices).

Modern consumer electronics are too tightly packed and too specialized to allow effective recycling of components.
